Growing More Than Food: Appleton’s Support for Seniors First

Since 2015, Appleton has partnered with nonprofit Seniors First to serve Central Florida’s aging population with dignity and care. Over the past decade, we have promoted their milestone anniversary, delivered full-spectrum marketing solutions, and created a community garden to supply clean, green nutrition where it is needed most. Throughout the year, our team harvests turnips, tomatoes, kale, beets, lettuce and more to ensure seniors can enjoy fresh, healthy food.

Addressing Food Insecurity in Central Florida

Food insecurity is a growing concern across Florida, with more than 2.9 million residents struggling to afford nutritious meals. Seniors are among the most vulnerable, with one in seven older Floridians facing hunger and food insecurity. For many, inexpensive processed foods are the only choices available, leaving them without the nutrition needed to live active, independent lives.

This reality highlights the importance of Senior First’s mission to create communities where older adults can live their best lives. The organization served more than 430,000 meals and supported over 4,000 individuals across Central Florida this past year. Our community garden contributes directly to these efforts, supplying fresh produce for programs like the Community Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels. Each delivery provides healthy ingredients that help older adults maintain independence, dignity and quality of life.
