Raising Funds for Orlando Health Foundation at the 2017 Orlando Dragon Boat Festival

This past Saturday, Appleton competed once again at the Walgreens Orlando International Dragon Boat Festival, and for the fourth year in a row we took home medals. After shaving off 10 seconds from our qualifying time in the final race, the Appleton team won 2^nd place in this year’s division.

There was plenty of food, drink and entertainment buzzing around the Orlando Dragon Boat Festival grounds at Turkey Lake in Bill Frederick Park. But amidst all of the fun, the most important parts of the festival were the funds and awareness raised for the Orlando UF Health Cancer Center.

Over 124,000 new cancer cases and 43,000 deaths caused by cancer are estimated in Florida this year so far. The Orlando Health Foundation is the only cancer center in Central Florida that is recognized by the Florida Department of Health as a Cancer Center of Excellence. They are strongly dedicated to raising funds for local cancer patients, and we were honored to contribute to the cause.

Over the years, we have worked on several projects for the Orlando Dragon Boat Festival, including the development of the Orlando Health Dragon Boat logo, design for a custom Dragon Boat wrap for Orlando Health and the production of a promotional video. This year, we are excited to be designing a new poster series to promote the 2018 International Dragon Boat Festival. The print pieces will include posters and flyers that will be utilized at all nine international events.
