Encouraging Women to Achieve Their Potential: ATHENA International

The annual ATHENA Women’s Leadership Luncheon was recently held at the Homewood Suites on International Drive to recognize members of the community who inspire professional leadership among women. This event was held globally in an effort to increase the organization’s footprint while empowering women worldwide. This unique networking event builds bridges across professions, sectors and generations.

At the Orlando ATHENA event, guests gathered to celebrate women’s achievements and discuss key topics to contribute to professional growth. Nominees for the 2014 Orlando ATHENA Leadership Award were selected because they give back to the community by fostering leadership. Linda Landman Gonzalez, who has served as the vice president of philanthropy and multicultural insights for the Orlando Magic for more than 7 years, was presented with the 2014 award.

“I am honored to win this award, but the greatest honor of all is to live in Central Florida with women who daily exhibit extraordinary talent,” Gonzalez told the Orlando Business Journal.

The luncheon provided a forum that facilitated important conversations regarding balance in leadership in the community. By creating meaningful relationships, this networking opportunity creates a network of women leaders both locally and abroad.
