Celebrating Animals and the People Who Love Them at the 23rd Annual Furball: Rescue Event

Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando’s Annual Furball: Rescue event went off swimmingly last weekend. All proceeds from the event, which was hosted at SeaWorld Orlando’s Ports of Call^® venue, benefited the community programs of the Pet Alliance to save the lives of dogs and cats.

Attendees were given the opportunity to encounter a variety of wildlife during the cocktail hour, including penguins, exotic reptiles and a sea lion. The evening also included a live auction, where money raised benefitted the sheltering, adopting and healing of animals at the Pet Alliance shelters. During the event, animal trainer and humanitarian Joel Slaven was honored with the Inaugural Pet Alliance Animal Hero Award. Slaven has rescued over 1,000 dogs and cats from animal shelters across America by employing them as animal actors in his Pets Ahoy shows. The night also included an appearance by Matt Gutman, ABC News Correspondent and host of the Emmy^® nominated television series “SeaRescue.” Gutman, along with members from SeaWorld’s rescue team, gave guests a look at the animals being rescued. SeaWorld team members brought out a bald eagle, sloth and a roseate spoonbill.

As proud sponsors of Furball and long-time supporters of Pet Alliance, the Appleton Creative team created a video for the event demonstrating that organization’s mission extends beyond saving dogs and cats. The video, which featured a soldier whose dog helped alleviate his PTSD symptoms, was met with a surge of donations and applause. In addition to producing the inspiring film, our role in the event included developing the Furball logo, save the dates, invites and flyers.
