UCF President’s Wife Host Benefit for Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida

Did you know?

  • In 2012, Central Florida homelessness increased 25% among families
  • 1 in 4 homeless men served our country
  • 1 in 4 people served in the coalition is a child

On December 3, UCF’s Martha Hitt invited members of UCF Women’s Club and Town and Gown Council to a holiday coffee to benefit Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. The Coalition is the largest full-service provider of homeless services in Central Florida. This outreach program provides food, shelter, housing options, education, advocacy, support services, comprehensive children’s services and case management; all focusing on offering the tools to return homeless people to self-sufficiency.

Appleton’s President, Diana LaRue proudly supported this year’s event. President/CEO of Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, Brent Trotter discussed the Coalition’s features, services, programs, and future goals. In summer 2013, the new Men’s Service Center is expected to open. This upcoming two-story, residential facility will accommodate up 250 and offer specialized assistance for physically disabled, military veterans, and First Steps Substance Abuse Recovery Program clients.

The Coalition depends on the support from the community to continue to serve the homeless. To make monetary donation or take at look at their immediate needs list visit – centralfloridahomeless.org.
