The Woman’s Alternative to Golf

The Spa Invitational is not your typical golf outing. This golf-themed spa day allows ladies to feel like queens while raising money for a praiseworthy cause. At this event, players go to different “holes” to enjoy spa services, wellness workshops and demonstrations. This creative event was held at the Hyatt Regency Orlando and included mini-facials, manicures, pedicures, massages, meetings with personal trainers, yoga, spray tanning and more. The event incorporated lectures on healthy living and cooking into the day as well. The “course” of the event involved the spa, restaurants, luxury penthouses and pool cabanas with attractive cabana boys.

The most amazing part of this event is that all of the proceeds will assist Grace Medical Home, which helps the working poor by providing quality healthcare to the uninsured of Orange County in Orlando, Florida. Grace Medical Home delivers the utmost level of care to those who are in need by providing everything from primary, specialty and preventative care to mental health services and spiritual care.

The Spa Invitational was founded by Sherry Magee, VP of communications and public affairs of CNL Financial Group. She was frustrated with the lack of occasions and options that would engage female clients. According to Sherry, “One day, I told our CFO that I was going to take my clients to the spa because I could do as much networking getting a pedicure as they could on the golf course.” He responded with, “Well, we have tournaments.” Ever since then, women have enjoyed a fun experience that provides a unique opportunity for networking. The Invitational is designed to attract professional and involved local business women which creates an alternative to the typical “let’s do lunch.”

This is the fourth year that the Spa Invitational has been held, and Appleton has been taking part from the beginning. We sponsored the occasion by creating their marketing materials, eblasts and providing the ever-popular cabana boys for the occasion. Appleton is happy to help this incredible organization which does so much to empower female success. This year alone, over 144 women attended and over $20,000 was raised for this great cause.
