Nonprofits Share How They Make a Difference at Victory Cup Initiative

Supporting nonprofit organizations that better the Central Florida community, the Victory Cup Initiative is an annually held event created to raise funds for nonprofits.

At this event, the Central Florida community is given the honor to learn about the selfless nonprofit organizations in a storytelling showcase for the chance to win $20,000. Founder and president of the Victory Cup, Ashley Vann, is dedicated to promoting the work of nonprofit organizations and uniting donors with these causes.

It’s safe to say that this year’s Victory Cup Initiative was one for the books. Guests gathered at the Orlando Science Center CineDome to watch the videos of the ten Central Florida nonprofit organizations that took the podium to share their stories. This year, many tuned in virtually from their watch parties, one being at the Ravenous Pig. This way, everyone was as able to vote, from near and far, by texting a number on their cell phones. These nonprofits presented their stories in a 2 minute and 30 second pitch on who they are, how they change lives and service the community to an audience of philanthropists. After everyone presented, the audience voted to determine who will be the first-place winner of $20,000 to help fund their cause and continue the work they do for our communities.

This year, the Foundation for Foster Children took home the grand prize! The FFC is an organization that creates meaningful connections for foster care youth through personalized support. Through their three pillars of service, Educate, Enrich and Empower, they are able to enhance the lives of children from ages 0-23. With the support of volunteers, mentors, donors and so much more, the foster children of our communities are overcoming the negative statistics and succeeding as independent, contributing members of the community.

But wait, there’s more! Second place winner OCA, Opportunity Community Ability went home with a fantastic prize of $15,000 to help support their mission to change the lives of people with autism and special needs in Central Florida. The third-place winner, Grace Medical Home, received $10,000 to support their organization — a medical home offering the highest level of healthcare those who need it most in the Central Florida communities.

The greatest part about this event is that the rest of the finalists — Adult Literacy League, Centra Florida Community Arts, Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras, Libby’s Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation, Lighthouse Works, The Sharing Center and Winter Park Day Nursery — received $1,0000 for participating and telling their rewarding stories. If you would like the participate in this amazing event next year, follow the Victory Cup Initiative on Facebook. We also encourage Central Florida nonprofits to apply for next year’s event! You may just get the chance to win $20,000 by telling your story.
