Foundation for Foster Children Adopts Fresh Direction to Better Inform the Community

Fostering a Brighter Future, Foundation for Foster Children

Less than 3% of all children who enter foster care in their lives graduate college and 25% will be homeless after age 18. Foundation for Foster Children (FFC) provides care and opportunities for the estimated 1,500 children and young adults in the Central Florida foster care system. With the help of mentors, volunteers and local and federal donations, FFC assists with personal development and educational support. Much like its members settle into new lives, FFC recently settled into a new website, infographic and brand materials with the help of Appleton Creative.

A major aspect of the updated work was the creation of an infographic, a visual image that represents data and information. The image reveals many shocking statistics about the children who go through the foster care system. The information is laid out in a plain and easy-to-follow manner, but designed to catch attention and attract readers. Foundation for Foster Children hopes that the graphic will educate viewers and motivate them to take action, whether it’s volunteering or supporting opportunities for children. The graphic will be shared through social media and relevant blogs to spread awareness and bring the issue and foundation to the forefront of readers’ minds. A print version will be handed out at major events to better reach audiences and create a massive impact.

Appleton also took an information-heavy, difficult-to-navigate website and freshly redesigned it and laid out new functionality. The new site was designed to match user expectations and is organized based on how they seek information. Those interested in becoming foster parents, children seeking FFC’s help, donors and volunteers will all benefit from a clean, user-friendly website. Calls-to-action are more prominently displayed and inspirational pictures spanning the entire width of your browser window accompany impactful messaging.

With a new website and infographic came several other additions to supplement Foundation for Foster Children’s marketing. FFC’s primary eblast template was predominantly text, with whole stories and pages of information. The design was cleaned up to feature images and illustrations. Blog posts and other articles now have headlines and teasers, with links to the website for further reading. In addition to designing the new site, Appleton connected Foundation for Foster Children with local and national child support registries to build domain authority and improve the company’s SEO. Appleton’s design team also created new banner ads to support efforts to build awareness by giving Foundation for Foster Children a visual presence throughout the web. To help protect the brand and ensure consistency, a new brand guide was created for the company. The guide gives specific measurements and details on design and logo appearance for all materials associated with the organization.
