Five Pets with Real Life Careers

Full-time occupations aren’t just for humans anymore. Several innovative brand strategies have incorporated animals to make their businesses unique. Because many animals can be trained and readily available, we are starting to see more in the workplace. Could you imagine all of the advertising opportunities with that unique selling point? Here are Appleton Creative’s list of our five favorite pets with careers:

1. Monkey Waiters. A restaurant in Japan named Kayabukiya Tavern has hired macaques, the most widespread primate genus, to work as waiters. These monkeys are certified by authorities and wearing outfits, serve drinks, and deliver hot towels to guests.

2. Director of Wellness. The last thing that people would imagine is a pup as a director of wellness at Khan Academy. He may have grown up in animal shelters and survived one gunshot, but Toby is one pup with a passion for wellness.

3. Pipe-Running Ferrets. In 1999, a U.S. lieutenant used a ferret to aid in construction of a missile-warning center. Since then, plumbers have been using ferrets to get in hard to reach areas. These days many ferrets are hired to feed wires through connecting tubes.

4. Navy Dolphins. Military dolphins are trained to help in defense. Some of their duties include recruiting lost naval swimmers, locating underwater mines, and underwater weapon design.

5. Therapy Horse. Equine therapy happens to be a growing market. The horses provide a way for troubled youth to interact in a positive setting. Equine therapists teach lessons in which horses learn, react, and follow instructions given by the individual in therapy.

They are cute, cuddly, and impacting many lives each day. Whether it’s for a therapeutic sense or topic secret military missions, animals are very resourceful. We applaud these fine creatures on their exceptional performance in the workplace.
