This Autumn’s Most Interesting, Entertaining & Meaningful Events in O-town

Autumn marks one of the busiest times of the year in Orlando. With cooler Florida weather and a jam-packed calendar of events – Appleton Creative couldn’t be more excited for the season. We polled our in-house team of marketing strategists, designers and videographers to review what is at the top of our lists to attend.

Headdress Ball 2012

Headdress Ball is Orlando´s most outrageous black tie event. It’s a who´s who extravaganza filled with lively entertainment, sumptuous food, libations, and a contest the likes of which you have never seen before.  The event will be held on September 22 to raise money for the Hope & Help Center of Central Florida, an organization that provides care and prevention services to people with AIDS.

Epcot International Food and Wine Festival

Go around the world at Disney’s Epcot at the 17th annual International Food and Wine Festival from September 28 to November 12. Explore diverse flavors and beverages and discover new cuisines by renowned chefs while indulging your senses with international wines, beers, and spirits during specialty programs, demonstrations, and seminars.

Zombietoberfest 2012

Zombies are on the rise again in Audubon Park Garden District. This year’s event will kick off with a zombie obstacle course. Run through a series of challenges before the zombies eat your brains. Will you survive the zombie apocalypse? Find out on Saturday, September 29.

The Winter Park Autumn Art Festival

Art fests are a favorite of the Appleton Creative team. We support as many Art Festivals as we can, and one of our favorites is the Winter Park Autumn Art Festival on October 13 and 14. This community-oriented sidewalk show presents quality visual art, live entertainment, children’s activities and more. Harriett’s Park Avenue Fashion Week

Harriett Lake is a true treasure of Orlando. Her goodwill and generosity is legendary. That’s why it’s crucial to support Harriett’s Park Avenue Fashion Week. The seven-day celebration takes place October 13 to 20 and highlights Winter Park’s best local fashion retail and designer community. This year’s runway show is Saturday, October 20 and all proceeds will go to fund the new Winter Park Women’s Center.

Kids Beating Cancer Hats & Heroes Ball

Celebrating 20 years, Kids Beating Cancer hosts their annual Hats & Heroes Ball on October 6. The event honors the children who are battling cancer, the marrow donors who make transplants possible and the families who offer unyielding support. The black-tie and hats event will feature dinner, live auction, dancing and entertainment with a surprise nationally renowned guest. All proceeds will support the ‘Fund the Match’ program covering uninsured cost and allowing children access to the transplant that can cure their disease. This year marks an important one for Kids Beating Cancer, as August 16th marked the opening of the Kids Beating Cancer Pediatric Transplant Center, dedicated to the memory of John Voight, the beloved son of Dr. and Mrs. Ben Guedes. The Guedes family’s passion and strength has been the backbone of Kids Beating Cancer for 20 years.

JDRF Central Florida 2012 Imagine Gala

Join us for the 6th Annual JDRF Imagine Gala Presenting: Follow the Yellow Brick Road to a Cure.  This year hosted by Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Studios on October 20, 2012 to fund research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes. The black tie optional event will feature an exquisite dinner, live and silent auctions, and entertainment featuring The Buzzcats.

Enzian’s Popcorn Flicks in the Park

With summer finally coming to a halt, what’s the best way to cool down this fall? Popcorn Flicks in the park! Bring your blanket or chair to enjoy the movie under the stars in Winter Park’s beautiful Central Park. Popcorn Flicks are held on the second Thursday of each month. To name but a few – needless to say, Appleton Creative is proud to conduct business in a city that’s full of vibrant life and culture. In fact, to show our appreciation to the Orlando community, our team is collaborating with the City to design an Orlando infographic centered on the theme of “live, work, and play.” We’ll unveil the first of the 3-part design “Play” in early September.
