Vowed & Proud’s Official Wedding Planner: Michael Thomas
On January 6, 2015, Florida became the 36th state to recognize marriage equality. To celebrate this incredible feat, the City of Orlando and Metropolitan Business Association hosted a mass wedding titled the Vowed and Proud ceremony.
The ceremony took place at City Hall between 9 and 11 a.m., where Central Florida commemorated this historic day. News outlets, family members and supporters gathered outside the City Hall Rotunda as Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer officiated the marriage of 40 same-sex couples.
Appleton Creative’s client, John Michael Exquisite Weddings and Catering, had the privilege to plan and coordinate the event. As the Official Event Planner of the ceremony and Central Florida’s Premiere LGBT Wedding Planner, Thomas worked with the hosts in the planning and execution of the celebration, coordinating the catering vendors, setup, timeline and music.
Thomas is a Gay Wedding Institute Certified wedding planner and has completed the Gay Wedding Institute’s course on LGBT/same-sex weddings to better serve the LGBT wedding market. He is an active board member of MBA, Central Florida’s LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and a founding member of The Wedding Alliance, a local organization that provides resources to all members of the LGBT wedding community.
Appleton Creative was honored to be in attendance at the event, as well as support client John Michael Exquisite Weddings and Catering in garnering media attention and recognition. He was featured in videos and articles by Fox 35, the Orlando Sentinel, Local 6 and News 13.
Another wedding and reception planned, by John Michael Exquisite Weddings and Catering, occurred later that night between Michael Scott and Thomas Lawson at the Hyatt Regency Orlando.
