Appleton’s End of Year Review: 2013
What a year! Wait—hold on a minute there 2014. Before we bid 2013 farewell, let’s step back and reminisce on 12 bustling months of exciting projects, charitable efforts and creative risk taking. Here’s a recap of some of our favorite, latest and most creative projects of the past year:
Isleworth- Responsive Design
This stylish new site highlights the lifestyle and aesthetics of Isleworth’s upscale community. Ease-of-use navigation, responsive functions and a real-time MLS feed upgraded the site to exceed Tavistock’s expectations.
Orlando International Airport (MCO)
With more non-stop flights than ever before, Orlando International continues to be unstoppable in providing passengers with the most direct flight choices. This thought sparked MCO’s new push to advertise the most non-stop flights to destinations across the United States. MCO’s “Non-Stoppable flights” campaign was conceived, with billboards placed throughout Florida, produced in both English and Spanish.
Pasadena Villa- Responsive Design and SEO Services
The new responsive Pasadena Villa website offers individuals a clear reflection of the services at Pasadena in all forms. Our SEO services coupled with our content writing and social media planning helped Pasadena increase their paid customers originating from organic website visits by 266%!
Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority (OOCEA)- Designated Texter Campaign
One of our favorite Public Service campaigns of the year came in the form of educating distracted drivers. To keep the roads safe and decrease accidents caused by driving and texting, Expressway commissioned Appleton Creative to create an integrative campaign complete with web landing pages, print ads, billboards, TV and radio spots, and more. The campaign garnered national media attention, helped a new texting-while-driving bill get passed, and won a Creativity International Award in the category of Print-Branding, Campaigns.
Kids Beating Cancer- Video
Our first 2013 project with Kids Beating Cancer involved our video team on location at Florida Hospital for Children interviewing two young patients undergoing cancer treatment. The video debuted as an inspirational piece at the Kids Beating Cancer’s “Hats and Heroes” ball where one of the transplant patients featured in the video met his donor in an inspiring once-in-a-lifetime moment.
Orlando Solar Bears- Event Campaigns
At Appleton, we love our local sports teams. Much like we did in 2012, this year we worked with Orlando Solar Bears to design campaign materials for a variety of events including their Veteran Appreciation Military Weekend Games, Girl Scout Night, and Teacher Appreciation contest. We designed e-blasts, print and web banner ads, posters, post cards and billboards to help promote the different community events held by our local professional ice hockey team.
Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress- Traditional Design
Appleton Creative worked in tandem with Hyatt after their $65 million renovation to create promotional materials including seasonal full-color magazines, an elaborate direct mailer to illustrate the myriad of features and activities, and the new digital menu at On The Rocks.
Orange County Public Schools and Zebra Coalition- Anti-Bullying Campaign
The Appleton team was eager to help conceptualize and visually craft campaign materials for Zebra’s campaign. The campaign ran through 102 schools within the Orange County Public School district and was developed to aid LGBT+ students in their struggle against sexist, homophobic and negative remarks about gender expression.
