112-year-old Lawton Printers Returns to Roots
An Orlando-area staple for over 100 years, Lawton Printers has moved from its Casselberry location into a new, larger facility that returns it to its downtown Orlando roots. To help ease the move, Appleton Creative designed a “Change of Address” postcard for Lawton’s friends and clients. Additionally, Appleton helped to develop a special promotion Orlando poster to be given away free for each person who “Likes” Lawton Printers on Facebook.
J.B Lawton founded the Central Florida printing business in 1900 and passed the company down from generation to generation. Today, his great-great-granddaughter Kimberly Lawton Koon and her husband Tyler Koon own the Orlando commercial printing firm as the families fifth generation of owners. The new 33,000-foot facility has tripled Lawton’s workspace allowing for two new presses, additional mailing equipment, large format printing, and a print history museum.
Lawton Printers is a current recipient of athenaorlando.com, an organization that works in affiliation with Rollins College to guide women business owners in defining and achieving tangible goals. ATHENAPowerLink provides Lawton Printers with access to a panel of business advisors. Appleton Creative’s Principal Diana LaRue serves on the Athena Governing Board and mentors program recipients like Lawton.
