Appleton attends UCF College of Education Seminar
This week, Appleton President Diana LaRue and Director of Marketing & Client Relations Amy Wise had the opportunity to attend a seminar put on by the University of Central Florida’s Town & Gown committee, of which LaRue is a member.
The seminar showcased the new Morgridge International Reading Center, which is part of UCF’s College of Education. The goal of the Center is to advance literacy through communication, collaboration, learning and research. Sandra Robinson, Dean of the College of Education, and Enrique Puig, Director of the Morgridge International Reading Center, presented the Town & Gown attendees with the changing face of today’s M2- generation student while outlining how UCF, and the new Reading Center, continues to embrace and develop new technology. Included in the presentation was an introduction to a computer-simulated sixth-grade class, which allows future and current teachers to develop teaching techniques in a real-time simulated classroom.
The Appleton team is grateful for the opportunity to attend such an interesting and educational event, and we look forward to the next seminar!
