Appleton’s Top Nonprofits of 2016 from A to Z
Some of our most rewarding work is done for the organizations we adore and support. As part of our various Good Apples Initiatives, we make it our mission to help, encourage and strengthen the nonprofit organizations that have affected our community and the world as a whole. It’s a fact that when we assist these nonprofits, we improve the quality of life that exists all around us. From kids and seniors to pets and healthcare, the Good Apples we’ve partnered with this year each deserve their spotlight recognition.
American Cancer Society: Cattle Barons’ Ball
First launched by the American Cancer Society in Texas in the 1970s, the Cattle Barons’ Ball offers an exciting alternative to the charitable gala circuit. This wild western-style event welcomes donors and supporters of all kinds to a boot stompin’ rodeo. As part of the upcoming 2017 Cattle Barons’ Ball, Appleton broke out their cowboy boots in order to provide the marketing materials, including the logo, invites and other event collateral, that would create buzz around town about this giddy-up gala.
ATHENAPowerLink guides women business owners in defining and achieving goals by providing access to a panel of business advisors. Volunteer advisory panelists are hand-selected based on each business owner’s individual needs, serving as mentors for 12 months at no charge to the woman business owner. As part of ATHENAPowerLink Orlando’s main marketing support team, Appleton donated a dynamic new website, creative marketing strategy, print advertisements and email marketing, this year.
Foundation for Foster Children
The Foundation for Foster Children enhances the lives of children in foster care through support and advocacy to create opportunities for a brighter future. Through the development of comprehensive marketing strategies, a brand guide, eblasts, advertisements, infographic and digital and video marketing, the Foundation for Foster Children has the crucial marketing tools needed to feature its inspiring events and garner donations for its education, development and guidance programs.
Kids Beating Cancer
Through its pediatric transplant center, Kids Beating Cancer provides resources and support during the treatment process for children with cancer, leukemia and related life-threatening diseases at no cost to the families. After designing the website last year, Appleton continues to update and maintain the website, in addition to contributing video and marketing services.
Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando
As they celebrate 80 years of helping Central Florida’s pets and their families, Appleton was proud to partner with Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando to sponsor this year’s 25th anniversary Furball event. Working closely with the organization, we filmed and edited the tear-jerking video about the lives of rescued pets that were saved by Pet Alliance. The video was shown to the crowd during the Furball program.
Another anniversary for the books, Seniors First celebrated its 50th anniversary this year and wanted to do so in style. The organization is dedicated to helping senior citizens improve their quality of life and maintain their independence and dignity in the comfort of their own homes. The organization commemorated its 50 years with a complete rebrand. From the logo, website design and other marketing collateral materials to the event’s launch, public relations and unveiling, Appleton helped Seniors First celebrate with a bang.
Seniors First and Appleton are currently working on a campaign to promote the need for volunteers in its Meals on Wheels program. The comprehensive marketing plan includes social media and public relations, in addition to traditional and digital marketing support.
Share the Care
Speaking of senior citizens, Share the Care offers adult day care and respite for frail, physically and cognitively impaired adults. To highlight its mission and show the impact of the services the organization provides, Appleton filmed, produced and edited an affecting video that would demonstrate the significance Share the Care makes in these seniors’ lives.
Victim Service Center of Central Florida
The Victim Service Center of Central Florida aims to prevent violence in our community every day. In collaboration with the Victim Service Center (VSC), Appleton branded, created and launched the “Your Voice is Their Voice” campaign, a multimedia project that used compelling graphics, impactful statistics and information for high school and college students to safely intervene when a potentially dangerous situation occurs. The comprehensive campaign comprised of a public service announcement (PSA), posters and brochures that are displayed within Orange County schools and used in educational courses. Victory Cup Initiative
The Victory Cup Initiative is our community’s ultimate goodwill event. The organization equips select nonprofit organizations with the skills and training to best tell their story. During the breakfast event, 10 Central Florida nonprofit organizations receive cash prizes ranging from $1,000 to $20,000, and winners are determined by audience participation. Everyone votes and everyone leaves a winner! Since the inaugural event, Appleton has been involved since its inception, creating the brand and marketing materials for the Victory Cup Initiative, including the website, event collateral, advertisements, public relations, social marketing and video production. The second annual event is bound to see even more success as the first.
Lately, we’ve written a lot of articles about Zebra Coalition, and rightly so. It’s the organization’s mission to foster hope, dignity and self-respect in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and all youth (LGBT+) and to provide them an opportunity to grow up in a safe, healthy and supportive environment. In light of recent events in our Orlando community, Zebra Coalition has received an overwhelming amount of outreach, questions and support from across the nation. To assist in the increased need of educational materials and information about the Coalition’s services, Appleton conceptualized, created and produced plentiful marketing materials and donor appreciation collateral. In addition, as part of one of our many Good Apples initiatives, Appleton featured the Lives of a Different Stripe exhibit within the Appleton Awareness Gallery as a way for the community to explore artwork created by Zebra Coalition youth and LGBT+ supporters around the nation. Appleton also created a feature piece of art, “The Giving Circle,” as a contribution to the show. Currently, Zebra Coalition and Appleton are working together to redesign and revamp the website in order for the Coalition to continue bringing LGBT+ support services and education to our community.

It’s also the work our team contributes time and efforts to, including Orlando Health Foundation’s Dragon Boat Festival, the Children’s Burn Camp of Central Florida, the Appleton Awareness Gallery art exhibits and many more.
