October marks Hilton Worldwide’s Global Month of Service, an initiative that celebrates the year-round commitment to hospitality and service that Hilton Hotels and Resorts around the world make. Approximately 300,000 Hilton team members gather in their respective cities to take part in hundreds of projects that impact the local communities in which they live, work and travel. Previously, Hilton Worldwide has dedicated a week to the cause, but this year, the company decided to extend the festivities to an entire month.
Hilton Grand Vacations hosted volunteers from around the Central Florida area on Monday, October 19th, to take part in two projects. Appleton Creative was onsite to photograph and shoot video of the philanthropic action front and center. Charitable employees wrote letters with words of encouragement, braided 750 paracord bracelets and packaged 750 military care packages that will all be shipped to troops stationed around the world. As part of the second project, volunteers packaged 500 personal hygiene kits for clients at Coalition for the Homeless.
The footage we filmed of the volunteers hard at work will be used to promote next year’s Month of Service. During the day of giving, we heard heartwarming stories from veterans, which were followed by Hilton Grand Vacations’ presentation of a donation check for $5,000 to Fairways for Warriors. This is an organization that provides golf equipment, instruction and outings to wounded warriors and their family members to encourage a support system and sense of belonging.
Last year, Hilton Grand Vacations hosted The Spirit of Giving at the Appleton Awareness Gallery. The centerpiece of the gallery, The Giving Circle™, highlighted numerous individuals partaking in the Global Week of Service. The 2014 event included more than 3,500 projects in 86 countries. This year’s month-long event is expected to surpass those numbers tremendously.
