Did you know that each day, 46 children are diagnosed with cancer? That’s about 16,000 cases each year! A diagnosis can rapidly turn the lives of a family upside down. Join Appleton Creative, Kids Beating Cancer and the City of Orlando in helping children fight cancer by decorating a tree at Lake Eola Park.
The second annual Giving Tree will take place on Sunday, October 6th from 11:30am to 2:30pm near the Downtown Orlando’s Farmer’s Market.
The event will allow patrons to buy a wish for a child in need, play family-friendly games and spend time with good-hearted residents, all within Orlando’s iconic Lake Eola Park. A wish costs as little as a dollar, and will give those donating the chance to hang a wish from the branches of the Giving Tree.
All proceeds will benefit Kids Beating Cancer whose mission is to increase access to treatment for children with cancer, leukemia and other life-threatening diseases. KBC helps fund the costs of identifying compatible donors and uninsured medical expenses. They also provide support for families as they face the challenging journey towards a cure.
Last year, Appleton Creative was part of the team that won the “Why I love Orlando” contest, and a grant to create an event to benefit the Orlando community. With the help from the City of Orlando, City Commissioner Patty Sheehan, and local sponsors, Appleton Creative hosted the inaugural Giving Tree event at Lake Eola Park in support of the Foundation for Foster Children. The event surpassed our expectations. More than 3,000 heart-shaped wishes filled the tree, raising thousands for the Foundation for Foster Children.
