What Do You Get When You Put 20 Creatives in a Dragon Boat?

Teams traveled from across the globe to participate in the Walgreens Orlando International Dragon Boat Festival last Saturday. The festival was located along the shores of Turkey Lake at Bill Frederick Park. Our Appleton team rose early in the morning to compete in the festival, which raises money for the Orlando Health Foundation. In addition to the races, the festival included food trucks as well as live performances.

After a quick chant, our team began the first of three 500-meter races. Coming in at two minutes and forty-one seconds, we won our first heat and brought home the trophy for the Industry Cup. Between races, our team spent time enjoying the scenic park, which covers 170 acres. We brought our unity out of the office and onto the water for a spectacularly fun and cooperative day.  We won our second trophy and set of medals in the competition after beating our previous time by several seconds in our third and final race. At the end of the day, we went home with two trophies and an even stronger bond..

We’d like to thank Orlando Health for the opportunity to design their boats, as well as to compete alongside them in this one-of-a-kind event. Our creative team took on the challenge of developing a unique design for the boat’s long, thin shape. The wrap incorporated elements from both dragon boating and Orlando Health’s mission. The curves in the design represent both waves in water created by the boats as well as scales on a dragon. The various colors each symbolize those used by cancer awareness ribbons.
