Youth From Great Oaks Village Foster Care Attend ‘Afternoon Art with Appleton’ Event

Appleton Creative, an Orlando, FL based advertising agency, was proud to host a special charity youth event today in partnership with Great Oaks Village Foster Care Group Home. Appleton Creative’s team is on a mission to get kids actively involved in creativity early in life in order to express themselves through art. Appleton’s goal is to build a future generation of young creatives while helping kids in need.

Teams shared their expertise on interactive-web, video and print projects using the theme of ‘Afternoon Art with Appleton’ as their inspiration. The take-aways were significantly more than simply the projects. One of the 12 year old students preparing to enter 6th grade said, “My favorite part was making a collage and touring the amazing video suite. It’s good to see if you stay in school you can get a cool job!”

Great Oaks Village is comprised of a campus housing seven cottages and operational facilities for 84 children ages 6-18 who have been removed from their homes by the State of Florida. Great Oaks is committed to setting Central Florida children up for success in life by providing them with assistance in education, counseling and independent living preparation.

The ‘Afternoon Art with Appleton’ event was established by Diana LaRue, President and Creative Director as a way to tie her company to the community and the children she mentors.

Small business Management 101: 10 Inexpensive Ways to Promote Your Small business Offline

Although the Internet may offer many conveniences to business owners, you still need to advertise and promote your small business in the real world especially if what you sell is not a digital product but a physical one. However, a full-scale advertising and promotions campaign entails a big expense budget that many start-up entrepreneurs cannot afford. If you want to keep your costs low while promoting your small business offline, you may want to explore the many inexpensive ways to do so. Here are 10 ways you can inexpensively promote your small business offline:

1. Use flyers and leaflets

Hire an agency to make them attractive, use words that appeal, and create a design that can catch attention. They need not be expensive but make sure that your contact information is there and write briefly about your products or services. You can put flyers on car windshields during kids’ sporting events or put them up at local colleges and libraries. You may also ask establishments you do regular business with like doctors’ offices, grocery stores, or laundry shops if you can leave your flyers with them.

2. Direct mail

If you can afford to buy stamps and envelopes, you can send a select group of people a unique sales letter with your professionally printed and designed business card and leaflets attached. It follows that before launching your direct mail campaign, you have already done your prospecting. Make sure those in your recipients’ list do belong to your target market segment. Using Social Media for Business: Make Using Multiple Networks Easy

By Angie Haggstrom

When using social media for marketing, you’ll likely use a few different mediums to reach as much of your target market as possible. Unfortunately, you’ll also be working on several different websites and spending a fair amount of time updating them all. This doesn’t have to eat up all of your time, however. You can streamline the entire process and make it far more efficient with a few simple tips.

Use Social Media Tools

Third-party tools are the best way to keep all of your accounts current and full of useful information. These tools include systems such as Digsby, Flock, and Ping.FM. Generally, you add all of the details for each platform into the tool and update them all from there.

You’ll also want to check the settings in each profile. Some of them such as Facebook allow you to connect with other social media accounts so that you can update them all at once. This makes it extremely easy for everyone to keep up with what you’re doing no matter which site they are following you on. Read the rest of this entry »
